What it does show is the real, documented direction and relative weight a new citation adds, so you know how seriously to treat it.
Why there is no single number here
The CMS Five-Star Health Inspection domain is built from your facility's most recent three survey cycles (weighted toward the most recent), plus complaint and infection-control surveys, scored by CMS using its own published methodology. What is publicly documented and stable is the direction: more severe, more widespread, and more frequent citations add more points, and more points is worse. What is not something this page can see is your specific point total, your prior two cycles, or your Staffing and Quality Measure domains — all of which combine into your overall Five-Star rating. Treat this tool as a directional read on one new finding, not a replacement for your actual Care Compare listing.
